We caught up with Sacha Young – the Fashion Editor of the ÜBER popular nz based website Coup De Main. Sacha will be at Fashion Festival this year so we caught up with her to hear her thoughts on everything from neon trousers, her favourite labels and doing what she loves for a job!

My name is Sacha and I’m Fashion Editor at Coup De Main…An online pop-culture slash quarterly online magazine which covers all things we heart, including music, fashion and entertainment. SShahlin [Editor-In-Chief] started Coup De Main just under three years ago now, and I came into the mix pretty early on. We’re really lucky to be doing what we love three hundred and sixty five days a year

What stood out for me in NZ Fashion during 2011 was…The eye-opener that was displayed at Fashion Week last year when the always-dark-and-enigmatic label ‘Zambesi’ debuted the most incredible neon tailored trousers. They were simply stunning!

The thing(s) I’d pick to watch out for in 2012 are… ‘Liam‘ – their debut range shown at NZ Fashion Week last year had the most tasteful colour palette I saw over the whole week. I’m also keeping a close eye on some of the talented students that graduated fashion school last year, Jessica Grubisa from Whitecliffe displayed the most impressive blingin’ collection at their end of year show. Last but not least, local menswear brand ‘I Love Ugly’ out-do themselves every season, I can’t wait to see if they release more on-the-mark patterned shirts!

At previous fashion festivals you would most likely to find me…Walking around in circles trying to find my seat, waiting anxiously for the night-time shows to commence!

At Fashion Festival in 2012 I’ll be…At as many Collection shows I can attend, checking out the in-season Winter ’12 ranges from all my favourite local labels and trying my best to sneak into a M.A.C. seminar.

What I’m looking forward to most about this year’s Fashion Festival is…The Collections #5 show, not only is it the dedicated Menswear runway show, ‘Zambesi‘ will be showing their Winter ’12 range… I get a second chance to drool over their neon statement pieces!

If there’s one thing you can’t miss about the Festival this year, it’s…The Collection shows! Each night has an incredible selection of talent, the designers are grouped with similar-ish brands, so it’s easy to choose a show that’s best suited to your taste. Despite whether you can afford to purchase all the pieces showing or not, it doesn’t matter… but a girl can dream!
