At the 2011 Fashion Festival Chetan Mongia proved his superior hair-styling skills by out-performing nine other finalists, all vying for the TRESemmé Head Stylist title. Finalists were put through their paces in a challenging five show schedule, with each show requiring vastly different looks over the course of the event. Chetan emerged as best stylist for the role without doubt.

NZFF: What Products were used to create the look for the Fashion Festival Campaign?
CM: I always start with TRESemmé FRESHSTART No Frizz Crème to tame flyways and achieve a smooth hairline – it’s also a life-saver for anyone who needs a refresh between washes! Then, while placing the hair in a high ponytail I use TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hairspray to smooth the hair and keep it in place. Its unique formula does not give you that rock-hard hairspray feeling. Finally, I spray the completed ponytail with TRESemmé Platinum Shine Hairspray for a sleek, glossy finish.
NZFF: Can you tell us a few key tips so that readers can create the classic ponytail look at home?
CM: First, wash your hair with TRESemmé Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner and blow-dry smooth with a full, round brush.
After you finish blow-drying, use TRESemmé FRESHSTART No Frizz Crème to smooth out hair, making it easy to control.
Next, create a high ponytail on the top of the head. Pull the hair back, away from the face, and then spray with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hairspray to keep it smooth and sleek.
Tie the ponytail with an elastic band and finish off with TRESemmé Platinum Shine Hairspray if you are looking for red-carpet ready hair.
Tip: Smooth any flyaways around the hairline by misting a toothbrush with hairspray and combing back.
NZFF: What products do you recommend to keep hair healthy in the summer sun?
CM: Summer sun can really rob hair of moisture. TRESemmé Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner with Vitamin E will provide moisture to dehydrated hair, and leave it soft and manageable again.
People who swim a lot in summer can also have chlorine build-up in hair – make sure you use TRESemmé Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Conditioner to help restore the natural bounce and softness of hair.
With the combination of the heat and chlorine, it can be hard to avoid brittle, straw-like hair. Make sure you give your locks extra-special care in summer by using a rinse-out conditioning treatment. For extra-deep conditioning apply a treatment conditioner to damp hair and wrap in a plastic film.
